Internet Explorer settings
The following chapters describe Internet Explorer settings that make using the Carmen on-line catalogue easier.
The on-line catalogue in Internet Explorer 8
If the top bar of the on-line catalogue shows a message about updating your browser, despite the fact that you already have Internet Explorer 8 installed on you computer, you need to disable the Compatibility view function.
Disabling Compatibility View
- Launch Internet Explorer
- Click next to the line where you enter web addresses on the Compatibility view icon
How to cancel temporary file storage
When the on-line catalogue is displayed in your browser, files and images related to the on-line catalogue are saved in the temporary files folder. Saving frequently visited or already visited websites helps them load more quickly, because Internet Explorer can open the files directly from the hard drive instead of from the internet. However, if you would like for your browser to display the most recent version of the on-line catalogue, we recommend that you disable the temporary file storage feature.
- Launch Internet Explorer
- In the main menu, choose Tools and then Internet options
- In the General tab in the Browsing history section, click the Settings button
- In the displayed window Temporary files settings mark Every time I visit the webpage.
Note: If you are using the on-line catalogue as a public service (café, library, etc.), we recommend (for security reasons) that you do not save any files to the computer's hard drive, i.e. disable temporary files storage.
